Writing for the good of all

Baloch people are happy that a senior woman diplomat from Pakistan, whose main qualification is intimacy with the Pakistan army generals, has successfully moved a resolution in the United Nations General Assembly on the right to self determination.
According to DAWN, the UN General Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed a Pakistan-sponsored resolution reaffirming that the universal realisation of the right of peoples to self-determination was a fundamental condition for the effective guarantee and observance of human rights. The resolution, co-sponsored by 75 countries was adopted without a vote in the 193-member Assembly’s Third Committee, which deals with social, humanitarian and cultural issues. DAWN reported introducing the resolution in the committee, Pakistan’s Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi said that self-determination had provided hope to people in their struggle against foreign occupation, a right that had been upheld by all major summits of the United Nations, Non-Aligned Movement and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Lodhi moved the resolution to basically score brownie points against India over Kashmir where Pakistan says India is committing gross crimes against humanity. Pakistan cast greedy looks on Indian territory no sooner than it was carved out of the body of India on August 14, 1947 as a bastard child of the British raj. Within one week of its bloody birth, Pakistan soldiers launched Operation Gul Marg in Kashmir and sliced away one-third of Kashmir from India. Ever since then, Pakistan fomented terror in Kashmir with an aim to take over the remaining two-thirds of the Kashmir that is under Indian administration. Pakistan believes Kashmir belongs to her, but the question here is how can Kashmir belong to Pakistan, when Pakistan is basically part of India. Pakistani terror in Kashmir has driven away more than half million highly cultured and well educated Pandits, rendering them stateless in their own country. Kashmir is regarded as a cradle of Hindu and Buddhist civilization.
The first salvo was fired Friday by former Balochistan fisheries minister, Kachkol Ali Advocate, “You tabled it for Kashmir issue which has been buried due to your country’s terrorist actions. But today the vital issue is Balochistan; the resolution is consonant with the Baloch aspirations. Thank you very much.” He asked Maleeha Lodi to be mindful there is a legal maxim that justice is a double edged sword.
Ali Advocate said the suppression of people’s right to self-determination and violation of their basic human rights in certain parts of the world, including occupied Baluchistan, is well documented.
He said that under international law that if a state violates the fundamental freedoms of the people in a struggle for their freedom and independence, such a state must be constrained to use coercion and brutality against the people who are struggling for their self-determination and also that the international states community must help them. He said in Balochistan, mass atrocities such as crime against humanity, war crimes and ethnic cleansing are being perpetrated by the security forces, but regretted that neither the United Nations nor the civilized nations are performing their obligations towards the Baloch people.
He said Maleeha Lodi has included the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the resolution. Therefore it is imperative for me to refer Article 11(b) of the OIC Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam:
“Colonization of all types being one the most evil forms of enslavement is totally prohibited .Peoples suffering from colonization have the full right to freedom and self-determination.It is the duty of all states and peoples to support colonized peoples for liquidation of all forms of colonization and occupation and all states and peoples have the right to preserve the independent identity and exercise control over their wealth and natural resources.”
Facts about Madam Lodhi
“Lodhi is a pseudo-intellectual who has been dispatched to New York to hide her army’s military aggression, war crimes and crimes against humanity in Balochistan,” said Ali Advocate.
Maleeha Lodhi, 64, is undoubtedly one of the most hated women in Balochistan, the France-sized Pakistan-occupied Balochistan. The reason is simple: she is regarded as golden girl of the generals at the Pakistan army GHQ. Kargil’s defeated army chief, who later became Pakistan coup leader, Gen Pervez Musharraf had handpicked her as Pakistan’s high commissioner to the United Kingdom and she masterminded the UK’s move of proscribing the Baloch Liberation Army on 17 July 2006. She also played a key role in the arrest in London of Balochistan freedom leader Hyrbyair Marri and his aide, Faiz Baluch in December 2007.
Though ousted premier Nawaz Sharif personally hated her, she was posted to her present position by him under duress of former army chief Gen Raheel Sharif. Her appointment followed Gen Sharif’s soft coup against premier Sharif. She took charge of her office February 6, 2015.
Lodhi’s role in Pakistan general’s dirty games against the world needs to be closely scrutinized. On 11 September, 2001, a date that no American will ever forget, Lodhi was ambassador to the US and along with the then ISI chief lieutenant general Mahmoud Ahmad, was at the capitol having a breakfast meeting with senior officials when the planes struck the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. According to published reports, Lt-Gen Ahmad was widely believed to be the “money man” behind 911 attacks.
Lodhi’s father, a navy officer had also helped Zia-ul-Haq. Like father like daughter, even before Musharraf, Lodhi had begun her career of servicing the army generals during the military regime of general Zia-ul-Haq (July 5, 1977—August 17, 1988) when she wrote in praise of the Islamist general. She was at the time, still studying at the London School of Economics.
While welcoming Musharraf’s coup, according to the TIME magazine Maleeha Lodhi said those “who lament the death of democracy, don’t understand that it’s the people who came in through the ballot box from whom democracy first has to be saved.” Musharraf’s coup, was the second time Lodhi had joined hands with the tormentors of premier Nawaz Sharif. She was part of a grand conspiracy to remove Sharif’s first elected government by publishing an Urdu poem, calling upon the then army chief General Asif Nawaz Janjua to oust his government.
Arif Jamal, author of Call for Transnational Jihad: Lashkar-e-Taiba 1985-2014, who was a colleague with Lodhi in The News International, recalls that thrice-premier Sharif had always looked upon Lodhi as a pawn in the hands of the army generals. According to Jamal, whatever Lodhi does at the UN “will reflect the GHQ policy, not the civilian government’s policy as she represents the men in uniform.” According to analysts, the most important agenda in Lodhi’s brief in New York is blocking India’s permanent seat at the UN Security Council by beating the Kashmir drum.
Lodhi hails from Lahore, the capital of Punjab, a city named after Lava, son of Rama – a fact that most Muslims in Punjab may never want to accept as they are in total denial of their Hindu cultural heritage. Like many Muslim supremacists, the “Lahori Arabs” try to identify themselves as descendants of the Arab, Turkmen and Afghan invaders of India. Lodhi’s penchant for the past appears to be phenomenal. According to the Los Angeles Times, Lodhi says she would have been a “princess” had the Moguls not ousted her forefathers from the throne in India. Even if her royalty claim is true, as a self-proclaimed scholar, Lodhi should have been ashamed of herself: Sikandar Lodhi had burned alive a Hindu Sadhu only for saying Muslims and Hindus were equally acceptable to God. He also wantonly destroyed countless Hindu temples, Taliban-style.
With the generals blessings, Lodhi has previously twice served as Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States and once as high commissioner to the UK. Lodhi was first groomed by Senator Syed Mushahid Hussain, the army’s blue-eyed-boy, as a journalist at The Muslim newspaper.
In September, Lodhi during her speech at the UN raised a picture of a girl with wounds on her face to show proof of “Indian brutality” in Kashmir but the picture turned out to be that of a Palestinian girl from Gaza, according to the BBC. The Nation described her error as criminal faux pass; any senior diplomat may be fired for such a huge blunder but since Madam Lodhi is embedded with the GHQ, none can touch her. This is a Pakistani reality.
It may be noted here Maleeha Lodhi is equally popular for her oral communication skills among Pakistan army generals and high Indian officials, including one who is on security detail of Premier Narendra Modi. The joke in Karachi was that army chief General Asif Nawaz Janjua died of a heart attack at age 56 on January 8, 1993 after being in shock and awe over Lodhi’s oral communication skills.
